4th of July

SATURDAY, 28 JULY 2007

We left for the parade at 9:ooam and we were amazed at how many people had gathered to line the streets already. It really was a treat for our children to witness the celebrations on this day. Houses were decorated with bunting and even more flags. We were thrown sweets (candy) by the bag full, they collected approx 10-12lbs of sweets between them all!! NO we didn't eat them all!!
We were treated like VIPs as they had even roped off an area right on the roadside for our family. Thanks to Charity and her family for saving a space for us and the use of your home during the thunder storm that follwed the parade. Later in the evening it was followed by the loudest, most spectacular firework display that we had ever seen! and we had the best viewing place for the fireworks too. right outside our room! Thank you again to the Millick family for the Motels.
photos: This is just two floats from a parade that lasted 2 hours , the children collecting sweets and the thunder storm that followed (notice the flags on the porch).
